What to expect

Therapy is a space for you to talk - and for me to listen. It sounds basic, but in my experience, the act of one human being really paying attention to another can be profoundly transformative. I believe having the space and time to express ourselves freely and to feel seen and heard by someone else is a fundamental human need. It allows us to grow into who we are. And yet, in our current culture, it’s often an experience we’re deprived of.

Therapy is a space to explore. I will encourage you to get curious about yourself, about your thoughts and feelings, your relationships and your habits, your memories and your dreams. Sometimes that might feel quite challenging - which can be a good thing! But being curious is often the first step towards something different happening.

Therapy is also about your relationship with me. Our therapy relationship is something we grow together, over time. It’s likely that patterns and issues from your life will show up in our relationship, which gives us a chance to really explore what's happening and for you to try out new ways of relating.

Therapy outdoors can take many different forms: walking and talking, exploring new paths, or choosing a place to sit. You could climb a tree, or get stuck in some mud. Being among plants, animals and the elements can be nourishing and refreshing, and can present dilemmas and challenges too. We can explore how these challenges might relate to the other things going on in your life - and I will support you to find new, creative ways to respond.
